Contents and page numbers.
The main point of a contents page is to inform the reader what and where they can see in the magazine. Page numbers make it easier to skip straight to your preferred page. For instance in the picture above you can see that 'John's Lost Songs' can be found on page 72.
Features.
In most content pages, the main features of the issue are printed in larger font or have an accompanying picture to draw the readers attention to the particular article.
Pictures.
Pictures can be used to highlight certain features in the magazine and draw the readers attention to the feature.
